    2014 Recap
    2014 Recap – September
    ▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂

September was my last month in beautiful Australia after a whole year spent with the kangaroos. In the middle of my East coast road trip with my travel mates, we started September in the Whitsunday Islands. Such a beautiful place over there. I spent a whole week, exploring the islands flying, snorkeling, hiking, cruising, camping. That was one of my best week in Aussie.

The photo I selected for that month has been taken on the Solway Lass sailboat. I spent 3 days and 3 nights on it, cruising the Whitsundays, doing stops on Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven Beach, South Molle Island, Black Island, and scuba diving on the reef. I fell like being a pirate for 3 days :) Unforgettable !

Here are some other highlights of September 2014:
    - Spending a couple of hours on one of the world’s most beautiful beach: Whitehaven Beach
    - Snorkeling the outer Great Barrier Reef after we landed near a pontoon in the middle of the Coral Sea with a seaplane.
    - Flying over the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef by seaplane, and see the beautiful Heart Reef
    - Camping on a deserted island in the Whitsundays
    - Going on a humpback whale watch tour in Hervey Bay and see my first whales ever !
    - Discovering during 2 days the world’s largest sand island: Fraser Island
    - Enjoying the sunrise and sunset from Rainbow Beach’s Carlo Sandblow dunes.
    - Having one of the best day of my life in Lady Elliot Island, spotting manta rays and swimming with green sea turtles
    - Going back to the Blue Mountains for a couple of days and enjoying out of this world sunsets and sunrises !
    - Spending my last week in Sydney, one of my favorite city so far, and climbing by night the Harbor Bridge — with Johan Lolos at The Whitsundays.
Gosh, what a year! 2014 has been a blast and I won’t lie saying that my life completely changed in recent months. Apart from the fact that I’m now working more than ever with the tourism industry, 2014 has its share of surprises and unusual aventures ! This is why, for the next 12 days, I’m going to post a little recap of this exciting year, summarizing each month the best I can :) In the meantime, here are some random figures that I thought could be interesting to share :) In 2014, I :- Slept 92 nights in my tent, 3 nights in 5-star hotels and 5 nights on a boat- Visited 3 countries, 7 states and 15 islands- Spent 21 weeks road tripping – Explored 64 national parks and 2 marine parks- Drove 10 different cars and 2 scooters – Saved 13,480 photos (750Gb) out of 80,000+ shot- Travelled with a total of 14 travel mates- Saw 17 friends or people I knew from Belgium- Did 14 weeks of volunteering – Worked with 75 tour operators and 11 tourism boards- Have been in 11 planes, 2 helicopters, 1 sea plane and 1 hot air balloon. For the occasion, I am going to answer all your questions you could have about my travels.
