A: You do not need to present a EUR 1 Movement certificate for a USED vehicle.
You only need to present a EUR 1 movement certificate for a NEW vehicle when releasing it from customs in order to get an exemption from Customs Duties (at a rate of 7%). The combined tax rate for a vehicle manufactured in an EC country and imported directly, (whether new and used), is 128% of its value as determined by a Customs valuator at the time of releasing according to the price lists of the Customs Directorate.

So why cant we do the same and tax the imports and reduce taxes on Australian made and let our economy grow instead of somebody else's.

If Australia continues to ignore its local manufacturing. We are destined to collapse as everything we have will be imported and will be making the rest of the world richer and our economy will definitely fail.

As I speak with some Professionals I sometimes hear , " Let Holden die , it's sink or swim , our Government can't be propping up failed Enterprises. Where is the money going to come from ? Labor left us in a huge debt " DO YOU REALLY WANT THE LAW OF THE JUNGLE TO PREVAIL IN OUR BUSINESS WORLD ? You haven't thought through what the consequences of the LAW OF THE JUNGLE will be for every Australian , LIBERAL OR LABOR . as All of our Manufacturing Industries will collapse throwing 10,000s into UNEMPLOYMENT . We don't need LAW OF THE JUNGLE economics coming from Canberra . We need PRAGMATIC policies like the German Government . #WAKEUPAUSTRALIA

Why is the German Government a lot smarter than ours when it comes supporting their own Manufacturing Industries ?

WHY AM I EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE CLOSURE OF HOLDEN ?
It doesn't matter if you are LIBERAL or LABOR ,
we are all going to be severely affected by the destruction of the Australian Manufacturing Industry .
I am a grandfather , and I'm very worried about the future job prospects for my grandchildren .
If we implement LAW OF THE JUNGLE economic policies , that is exactly what we are going force our children and grandchildren into .
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT FOR YOUR CHILDREN ?

Economic Rationalist argument : Australia's population is too small , therefore we have to close Holden down because we do not have the Economies of Scale of Europe and Asia .
SOLUTION ;
Our Government buys 50% of Holden and thereby becomes a partner of GM . We invest massively in Research and Development and produce the most ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CARS ON THE PLANET .
This produces a WORLDWIDE DEMAND for Holden vehicles and no longer do we rely upon our small population ! Our Canberra Government would need to take a PRAGMATIC approach to this by creating TAX INCENTIVES , and not TAX PENALTIES .

If we are going to Save Australian Manufacturing, and prevent 10,000's from becoming UNEMPLOYED , we have to move beyond LEFT and RIGHT wing ideologies .
We need to adopt the political methodology of German politicians which is PRAGMATIC , and says , " HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS WORK ? "
