The Jeep Compass has been SAVEM's first response vehicle for 18 months and has carried field teams in firegrounds including Rockleigh, Eden Valley and now Sampson Flat.

The specially fitted out vehicle permits veterinary teams to do in-field assessments, triage and treatments, for all species of animals, where this is indicated.

With the Jeep's SAVEM badging (signage and roof top lights) access to "emergency service only" restricted areas is easier. As a result, SAVEM's field work is visible to affected residents and the local community.

After the Sampson Flat fire, locals erected a roadside sign thanking emergency services (including SAVEM) for their assistance.
